The Stables

camden market

In all my recent trips to London,
Camden, has conspired to allure me every single time.

It's unruly and frantic streets,
stables, turned into market stalls,
old brick walls, filled densely,
with endless fabrics and colourful signage.
Some handmade, some individually carved.

Its vintage tones and worn out doors.
It's silent corners, that play raucously on night fall,
its beautifully vibrant, creative, eclectic crowd.

There's a part of me that says
I will see another of London's parts next time,
but as the dust settles, I remember,
there's a corner of Camden I have yet to see.

Happy Friday dear friends!
And I certainly hope, trips have been planed,
for the sun promises to brighten up the way.

    • Camden is an amazing place. I tried to capture what I got from it all, which can’t ever be resumed into these humble set of photos. Thanks for stopping by

    • I literally spent the whole day in Camden absorbing its details. I’m sure you’d love it there!

  4. All of this has happened to the area over the last 15 or 20 years and is aimed at tourists, there has always been a market here but it was more ‘rough and ready’. I used to come here when I was a student years ago, and it didn’t look like this then. For a proper London market experience try somewhere like Petticoat Lane. Even the lovely Sunday Flower market at Columbia Street has been overly commercialised, which I think is a shame.

    • Hi Pete! Thank you for your wonderful insight. I met Camden a short 7 years ago so didn’t get to see the wonderful place you’ve described. Would have been great to see it all then. I love Peticoat lane leading on to Brick lane on a sunday. Most certainly a more authentic vibe to it. But I also like the tourist side of things (sorry to say). The emerging handmade culture that populates the stalls at Old Spitafields charms me. In contrast. Green street in Upton Park seems to tick my boxes too. I guess London is just about just that, everyone is sure to find their little spots of perfect.
