Through old street with new eyes

christ's pieces park, Cambridge

Hello!! It’s around that time again!

When these bare feet,
seek comforting slippers.
And a hot cup of tea to warm the tips of my fingers.
The sky, has even dared to open.
Storms have whistled through window fissures.

But, there has been beautiful days!
Where the sky is that perfect kind of blue,
and clouds fluff into curious shapes.

I’ve Stepped gently on known streets with new eyes.
Gazed at reflections on shiny shop windows.
Negotiated new routes in curious surroundings,
and dared to try new turns.

We’ve lined the banks of rivers with friends and strangers,
and noticed the corners of peoples smiles.
We’ve sat on curbs of crowded markets,
whilst collecting crumbs of crumbling pastry.
We’ve sipped on beer here and there,
and ate familiar dishes with familiar faces.

We’ve made plans to visit fiends,
and negotiated the routes of weekend trips .

Very nice. Makes me want to visit those places. That kayaker looked like he was in a bit of trouble. Nice colour!

    • Cambridge is amazing… When the shine lights up it shadows but also when the rain draws reflections on it’s surfaces. I think a visit is imperative!!

  4. Ah, lovely to be reminded of Cambridge – slightly woozy afternoons eating picnics by the river – lovely.

    • So Cambridge has bestowed you with it’s pleasures… That’s one of the main reasons I’m happily stuck here.

    • It was an exquisite model! They happily graze in Mill lane this year and seem to love all the attention. We certainly love seeing them in the city centre.

  6. Ah, you make me homesick for England – lovely and evocative photos, thank you…

    • Hey John! Thank YOU! When was the last time you were in sunny England? I think she is calling…

      September 6, 2012 at 8:39 AM

      • She is always calling but the flight is expensive and long and I no longer have family there so now I tend to fly south to Mexico and the sun. I was last over in 2009 and it still felt like home…

  7. The memories came flooding back and what a terrific set of images. It was so good to see the mathematical bridge and the last image with its contrasting windows to the textures in the stone wall has my vote as a simple and effective image.
